[951] Norbert J. Peplinski, 83, Pulaski, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday morning, Feb. 7, 1998. He was born Feb. 8, 1914 to the late John and Verna (Gajewski) Peplinski. On Aug. 6. 1946 he married Dorothy Durben from Chilton, WI.

[952] Except when he was away at school or in the Service, he was a life-long resident of Pulaski. In 1936 Norb received his Bachelors Degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During World War II he received training as a
weather officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in that capacity until the end of the war.

[953] He then returned to Pulaski where he and his brother, Ed were owner-managers of Peplinski Hardware, Inc. Upon the death of his father in 1958 he became president of the Pulaski State Bank.

[954] Norb worked very hard for the betterment of his community in all ways possible. He was a leader in Pulaski Industries, the Tri County Community Corp. and the retail division of the Chamber of Commerce.

[955] He was president of the Smart Shopper and Economic Development Committee for many years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Assumption B.V.M. Church, Pulaski, the American Legion Post, the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bona Council #4439,
Pulaski Area Historical Society and was a charter member of the Pulaski Lions Club.

[956] He led two successful drives for private money to build the Pulaski branch of the Brown County Library. He was an avid supporter of quality education for all children.

[957] Norb was busy to the end - planning, advising, helping and fixing.
Norbert was a loving and generous husband and father.

[958] He is survived by his wife and six children, Carol (John) Harkness, Naperville, ILL.; Steve (Polly) Peplinski, Pulaski; Ruth Poole, Cambridge, WI.; Tom, Southern Center for the Disabled, Union Grove; Chuck (Cynthia) Peplinski, San Jose, CA.; Will
Peplinski, Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Jill Peplinski, Madison; Katie Peplinski, Pulaski; Geoff Poole, Cambridge; one sister, Beatrice Moller, Auburn AL.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

[959] His parents, a sister, Sr. M. Valeria CSSJ, and three brothers Richard, Edward and Cyril preceded him in death. (...) A memorial fund has been established.

[961] Norbert J. Peplinski, 83, Pulaski, starb zu Hause unerwartet am Samstag Morgen, 7.2.1998. Er wurde am 8.2.1914 als Sohn der verstorbenen John and Verna Peplinski geboren. Am 6.8.46 heiratete er Dorothy Durben aus Chilton, WI.

[962] Ausgenommen wenn er fort war zur Schule oder zum Dienst, war er ein Leben lang Einwohner von Pulaski. 1936 erhielt Norb seinen Abschluß als Bachelor als Chemie-Ingenieur von der Universität von Wisconsin-Madison. Während des zweiten Weltkrieges erhielt
er Training als Wetter-Offizier in der U.S. Luftwaffe und diente in dieser Stellung bis zum Ende des Krieges.

[963] Er kam dann nach Pulaski zurück, wo er und sein Bruder Ed Besitzer von Peplinski Hardware, Inc. waren. Nach dem Tod seines Veters 1958 wurde er Präsident der Pulaski-Staats-Bank.

[964] Norb arbeitete auf allen möglichen Wegen sehr hart für die Verbesserung seiner Gemeinde. Er war ein Führer der Pilaski Industrie, der "Tri Country Community Corp." und der Einzelhandels-Abteilung in der Handelskammer.

[965] Er war Präsident der "Smart Chopper" des Wirtschaftshilfe-Ausschusses für viele Jahre. Er war Mitglied der "Holy Name Society of Assumption B.V.M. Church, Pulaski", der American Legion Post, der Nkights von Columbus, Bischof Bona Council, Pulaski Area
Historical Society er war Konzessions-Mitglied des Pulaski Lions Club.

[966] Er leitete zwei erfolgreiche Kampagnen für privates Geld um die Pulanski-Filiale der Brown Country Bibliothek aufzubauen. Er war ein gieriger Anhänger von qualitativer Ausbildung für alle Kinder.

[967] Norb war bis zum Ende beschäftigt - zu planen, zu beraten, zu helfen und festzulegen. Norbert war ein liebender und großzügiger Ehemann und Vater.

[968] Überlebende sind seine Frau und sechs Kinder (...), drei Enkel und eine Schwester.

[969] Seine Eltern, eine Schwester, Sr. M. Valeria CSSJ und drei Brüder Richard, Edward und Cyril gingen ihm im Tod voran. (...) Ein Gedenk-Fonds wurde eingerichtet.
